Job description

As a division of the Royal Belgian Federation of Notaries, SU ICT develops state of the art IT solutions that supports the digital transformation of the notaries and their stakeholders. We build solutions, platforms and e-portals, to simplify interactions between notaries, their clients and public services. The automation and administrative simplification of the notaries’ workflow is key to succeeding in this endeavour.

What makes FedNot unique are the notaries’ profession and its legal context that generates constant and complex challenges we face every day. Aspects of data privacy, information integrity and security are essential to the profession.

The job In the context of one of our strategic projects, and the growth of our company in general, we are looking for a solutions architect who will take the lead on architecture aspects of projects. In order to ensure consistency and future-proofness of the FedNot application landscape, the solution architect is expected to:

  • Bridge business and technical needs of solutions Provide and evangelize long term view of solution architecture 
  • Manage composition / de-composition of solution in/from components/services/products Custodian of Quality by design (non-functionals) Create architectural principles
  • Define – in close co-operation with the devops teams – the technology roadmap of the solution Support devops teams in realizing the architectural vision
  • Be the Information Architect (data model) for the solutions in scope 
  • Minimize the technical debt of the solutions in scope Represent the architectural vision of the solutions in scope in the different fora (e.g. chapter meeting, QBR, grooming sessions, ….) 
  • Ensures that the architectural epics are prioritized in the cluster & solution backlog.
  • Elaborate, within the Architecture Chapter, an Architecture roadmap that defines the long-term orientations to be taken, and the project path to follow.
  • Ensure the correct implementation of solutions in line with architectural requirements.
  • Challenge existing applications and propose enhancements/refactoring to meet the latest architectural guidelines (technical, technological, infrastructure, integration, security,…)

You Want:

  • To define architecture decision frameworks and put into practice the decision-making approach by defining a clear action plan, stating who should do what by when ;
  • To define the different possible design scenarios, and, for each scenario, assess the technology that will be used, the different components to be put in place, and the integration principles to be used to make the components interact (with each other and with other systems) ;
  • To describe the high level implementation roadmap for each scenario, with the associated workload estimate ;
  • to coach the devops members in your teams, so that they can develop their skills and they can contribute by taking ownership on some items ;
  • To work in close relationship with Product owners, Cluster managers, devOps team members of the Citizen & Notary cluster;
  • To deliver, among others: architectural vision & roadmap, architectural principles, trade-off analysis, PoCs that illustrate architectural vision, technology assessments.

You have:

  • Required experience in solution architecture, information modeling, quality attributes (e.g. security, performance, integration, .. ), scaled agile development methodologies;
  • A good knowledge of the following : full stack development technologies, cloud native architecture, JEE application development, Cloud platforms (GCP preferably), REST API’s, CI/CD tooling.

You are:

  • An experienced solution architect (minimum 10 years’ experience), with ability to encompass business, functional, technology and technical requirements, with constant focus on security & data privacy; 
  • A system thinker;
  • A Change agent;
  • A dynamic, excellent communicator, able to align all different stakeholders and take the lead in discussions/decisions in the latest methodologies and technologies, within a growing and economical stable sector.
