Task title: Lead OutSystems Developer for AREA42

PO number: 4500023133

Location: 

  • Brussels
  • Remote location possible (this over-rules the stipulation in the Framework contract that “The Freelancer undertakes to provide the Services at the premises of the Customer …”)

 

Task objectives:

The expert/senior full stack lead developer is primarily responsible for the technical development (in OutSystems) of AREA42 applications and reusable components by:

  • Leading the tech build, including APIs / user experience, front and backend systems, data modules / platforms, and overall architecture in close collaboration with the head of operations.
  • Acting as senior advisor to the AREA42 teams to define the best technologies, tools and architectures for each project and venture.
  • Partner with Product Owners to increase the impact of the ventures.
  • Manage technical benchmarks to elaborate innovative solutions across web & API architectures.
  • Identifying and systematically deploying best practices to ensure sustainable scalability of the applications, in particular making each module an asset for the following ones, ensuring our developers work like craftsmen and documenting the meaningful pieces of code produced. 

 

Task deliverables & milestones: 

  • Maintenance of AREA42 applications and related processes – monitoring of daily run, solving and fixing issues, deployment of updates/changes
  • Execution of Technical tests
  • Maintenance of all OutSystems environments (DEV, TST, PROD)
  • Development of changes in AREA42 applications and related processes for new features and new clients including basic tests and creation of respective documentation and deployment. Work in close collaboration with the Test Engineer to review and maintain the collection of tests.
  • Perform systematic peer code reviews to ensure a high quality of the deliverables and promote a culture of sharing knowledge within the development team.

Desired experience:

Atypical profiles often work better for atypical jobs, and it is hard to predict the multiple winning skill combinations of the best candidates for the job. Moreover, we prefer team culture over individual performance. This being said, here are a few qualities we may be looking for:

  • Successful experience as a full stack OutSystems developer in a startup environment. Team player.
  • Outstanding execution across frontend & backend environments.
  •  Highest level of professional and intellectual integrity. Trust matters.
  • Can handle success and failure, positive feedback as well as critiques.
  • 80/20, structured self-starter with strong drive.
  • Can perform independently (we do not micromanage our developers) and deliver consistent quality work according to established best practices.
  • Understanding of B2B trade is a plus, of trade credit insurance is a nice to have.
  • Based in Europe timezone

Salary range: 

  • 250-900€/day
  • Job subject to contract via proUnity (AREA42 procurement platform), with monthly timesheets and invoicing

Work hours, travel requirements, etc.:

  • Work up to 230 days for this SoW in 2025. As a freelancer, you are free to choose when you wish to work with AREA42 or to take holidays.
  • Travels to support the development of the SoW (occasionally when requested by AREA42) (travel to be arranged and cost carried by AREA42)
  • For administrative simplicity all travel assignments are arranged by AREA42 and also the costs are carried directly by AREA42.
