Widad El Aouam: We’re a great matchmaker; that fills you with positive energy
Widad joined ProUnity as Client Relationship Manager just over a month ago. She worked as a recruiter for three years and now is part of ProUnity’s operations team. It’s a new start for her; she is discovering the platform’s many features and possibilities and settling in. So, let’s get acquainted!
Can you take us back to your first day at ProUnity?
I was a bit nervous and impatient when I started at ProUnity. But it was really OK, because everyone was very friendly, I would say… super ‘sympa’. So, I was quite happy. Of course, I had to find my bearings first. I quickly received a lot of information, learning about working with clients, the platform, and the tools we use. I was right away introduced to everyone, including visiting clients, and it was all very friendly. A positive experience, I must say!
I quickly felt included and appreciated
How is your job now, after just over one month here?
I’m not fully involved in operations yet, and for the moment I don’t have any clients to co-manage. But my role giving support is becoming more exciting every day. I’m pleasantly surprised to see our service is so flexible. Some customers go for full ‘Full MSP’ guidance, others manage more tasks themselves. Either way, you must pay attention to every detail and feel at ease with administrative tasks. That requires patience, and you quickly get used to that. And of course, helping people must be your thing, because we’re very focused on helping our customers, and all users in the ecosystem.
How did your first interaction with your colleagues go?
Super! They all showed genuine interest asking questions about me and my experience. Even though you are new, your voice is taken into account and respected. Our working relationship is relaxed, everyone is available for questions, always friendly.
The collaboration immediately felt very natural and spontaneous.
Of course, there were also more formal meetings with the MSP team. That was important to move forward together as one team, getting to know each other and discuss tasks. But other than that, it was honestly very natural and ‘chill’.
How do you see the collaboration evolve in the team?
There is quite a lot of work, and that might feel a bit scary at first. I want to protect my private life besides my job, but it’s not an issue here, through teamwork it all works out well. I see that we all realise that everyone must feel good to be able to do a good job. We take our tasks to heart, but in a healthy way. You show your professional responsibility, without disturbing your inner balance. Otherwise, you’ll start to feel bad in the long run, and that is simply not sustainable.
ProUnity connects talent with projects, and projects with talent. How do you feel about that?
It’s very positive that we can help so many consultants and clients so well. I worked as a recruiter for three years and I also had that feeling then, standing as a mediator between the client and candidates. You help them to find each other and reach a collaboration. With ProUnity, we more or less do the same thing, but on on a larger scale. We help freelancers and suppliers find a click with clients and then move forward together. ProUnity plays that role of intermediary with enthusiasm and with great success. That’s also why I came here.
Being a good matchmaker gives you positive energy. That’s what I love about this job.
What words would you use to sum up your first month at ProUnity?
Warm, professional and fun. The onboarding and atmosphere in the team in welcoming, warm. The work itself is of course fairly ‘serious’, we are all professional, as we are involved in important client enquiries and working with freelancers and suppliers. But it’s also fun; things are friendly here as the company grows and is able to offer a strong service.
I feel I am listened to here.
We are all people. We work together and of course that’s our focus, but we also share the idea that feeling happy is important. And our customers experience this in the same way. Our collaboration is a relationship of trust. That’s actually the key thing: respect and appreciation are at the heart of working together here, at all levels. And after a month at ProUnity, that is my strongest impression, that mutual respect and consideration are central for us all.
